Kathmandu–Terai Fast Track (KTFT) Project, Nepal
The Kathmandu–Terai Fast Track (KTFT) project is a major transportation initiative aimed at enhancing connectivity between the capital city of Kathmandu and the Terai region of Nepal. This vital infrastructure project is designed to reduce travel time and boost economic activity by providing a high-speed, reliable road link. Given the seismic vulnerability of the region, the project demands cutting-edge engineering solutions to ensure the safety and longevity of its structures.
IEC played a crucial role in the success of this high-profile project by supplying thousands of High-Damping Rubber (HDR) bearings. These bearings, designed to provide exceptional seismic isolation and vibration damping, were meticulously calculated, designed, fabricated, and tested under the client’s supervision. The total project value of the HDR bearings is close to US$1M. Starting in early 2024, IEC delivered nearly one-third of the bearings required for this ambitious project. IEC's HDR bearings offer superior performance, meeting the stringent seismic requirements of the project and contributing to the overall safety and stability of the KTFT infrastructure.
