Pot Bearing

Design Principle

Pot bearings utilize a combination of a steel pot, an elastomeric disc, and a piston plate to accommodate rotational and translational movements in structures. The elastomeric disc behaves like a liquid under compression, evenly distributing loads while allowing flexibility. A brass sealing ring confines the elastomer, and PTFE or UHMWPE sliding materials, paired with stainless steel plates, minimize friction.
