Elastomeric Isolator

Design Principle

Elastomeric isolators are composed of alternating layers of rubber and steel plates, designed to provide flexibility in horizontal movement while supporting vertical loads. During seismic events, the isolator absorbs ground motion and dissipates energy, significantly reducing the seismic force transmitted to the superstructure. The re-centering capability ensures the structure returns to its original position after the seismic event.

Suitable Applications
Elastomeric isolators are widely used in critical infrastructure such as hospitals, bridges, and high-rise buildings, particularly in regions prone to frequent seismic activity. Their ability to ensure the safety and functionality of structures post-earthquake makes them indispensable in disaster-prone areas.
